Cursor Design Lead Ryo Lu Departs for Asia Ahead of SpaceX Acquisition

According to Beating's monitoring, Ryo Lu, design lead at Cursor, announced his departure, with his next stop set for Asia. He did not disclose his new company, only saying that he has been in the San Francisco tech circle for 10 years and wants to change his pace of life, experience more culture and daily life, and continue to create freely. Ryo joined Cursor from Notion in early 2025 as design lead. Previously, he was one of Notion's founding designers and also worked on product design at Stripe and Asana. The timing of his departure is somewhat unusual. SpaceX has signed an agreement to acquire Cursor's parent company Anysphere in an all-stock deal valued at $60 billion, with the transaction expected to close soon. Ryo did not mention any connection between his departure and the acquisition, but the comments section has seen speculation about 'cashing out and exiting.'
