On July 3, U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated in an interview that the U.S. plans to use the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached with Iran to supplement global oil supplies and leave room for potential military actions in the future. Vance mentioned in the interview, "I think what the president is asking us to do is to use this MoU to some extent to 'replenish' the global oil system, restore some reserves, and then observe how the situation develops." He further explained that there are two possible paths for U.S. policy towards Iran. On one hand, if Iran is willing to make commitments that meet U.S. expectations and implement them through verifiable phased goals, "we will change our relationship with Iran." On the other hand, if the relevant conditions cannot be met, "then there will actually be no change, except for the results we have already achieved through military action — and those results are quite significant." Vance added, "We have two options: one is to push for a long-term agreement with Iran, but that requires a significant change in its behavior; the other is to consolidate existing achievements and take further action when the president deems it necessary. Both options are currently under consideration."
