On November 13th, the US Department of Justice issued a notice stating: "Resident Daren Li, who holds dual citizenship of China and St. Kitts and Nevis Federation (Note: China does not recognize dual citizenship), admitted to a charge of conspiracy to commit money laundering because he participated in a cryptocurrency investment scam money laundering plan and received profits of several million dollars."
Daren Li and his accomplices used a shell company network and international bank accounts to launder more than $73 million from victims of cryptocurrency investment fraud. Daren Li is scheduled to be sentenced on March 3, 2025. Li could face up to 20 years in prison.
Previously, on May 17th, according to the official website of the US Department of Justice, two Chinese nationals were arrested in California for allegedly defrauding at least $73 million through cryptocurrency investment scams.
