On August 19, TikTok is developing a 'Peer-to-Peer' payment feature that will allow users to transfer money to each other through direct messages. The information comes from the code of the U.S. version of the TikTok app. The interaction design for this feature appears to be quite complete. Recipients can 'click to accept' payments before they expire, while senders can be notified of the transaction status through push notifications or their inbox. Additionally, users will be able to add messages when making payments, similar to the functionality offered by PayPal's Venmo. A TikTok spokesperson stated that this feature is not currently being tested in any market and is still in the early stages of development. TikTok Pay is currently available only in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand for shopping payments on TikTok Shop, and there is no guarantee that the peer-to-peer payment feature will ultimately be launched.
