On July 13, according to SBI's official website, SBI and the Solana Foundation issued a joint announcement, stating that on July 13, the two sides announced the launch of a strategic cooperation to jointly promote the construction of Japan's on-chain financial market. Under the cooperation agreement, the Solana Foundation will invest in SBI R3 Japan, working together with existing shareholders SBI and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) to advance new growth strategies. The company plans to be renamed 'SBI Solana Global Co., Ltd. (tentative name).' SBI Solana Global will focus on advancing five major business directions around the Solana network: issuance and circulation support for stablecoins such as the yen stablecoin JPYSC; composition and circulation support for corporate bonds and tokenized RWAs; cross-border payment infrastructure construction; on-chain financial services for institutional investors; and the development of next-generation payment infrastructure for the AI Agent era. The two parties stated that they will start with the Japanese market and promote interconnection with Asian and global markets.
