On June 6, the Monad development team, Category Labs, released the MIP-12 proposal, suggesting to shorten the network consensus voting interval (vote pace) from the current 400 milliseconds to 300 milliseconds to enhance block confirmation speed and consensus efficiency. According to the proposal, the transaction limit will be reduced from 5,000 to 3,750 transactions, the gas limit for block proposals will decrease from 200 million to 150 million, and the proposal byte limit will be lowered from 2 million bytes to 1.5 million bytes. Additionally, to accommodate the more frequent block generation pace, the block reward will be reduced from 25 MON per block to 18 MON. Category Labs stated that this adjustment will not affect the execution client, but due to changes in consensus layer parameters, it will require implementation through a hard fork. The proposal indicates that a faster voting pace will help accelerate the formation of a quorum, thus achieving a quicker block generation speed. MIP-12 is currently in draft status.
