On July 30, Bank of England Governor Bailey: There is a disagreement between acting as soon as possible or waiting to see. It is reasonable to wait for developments. I think we can wait and see. Waiting for all second-round effects to emerge before acting will be too late; but it is currently uncertain when action will be taken. Market conditions are an important part of the judgment on quantitative tightening. I hope no one leaves this room thinking the Bank is close to raising interest rates.
