US to Lower Fuel Economy Standards, Fuel Consumption and Emissions May Rise

Former President Trump stated that he has approved new fuel economy standards for cars and trucks, claiming that the new regulations will reduce the prices of new vehicles. US Transportation Secretary Duffy remarked, 'American auto workers will celebrate a major victory on Monday.' According to estimates from the Department of Transportation, the new standards will lower the cost of new cars, but fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions will increase over the coming decades.
