On September 14, the Associated Press reported that, according to two regional officials, a key Saudi oil pipeline that was attacked last week will be mostly shut down for several weeks during repairs of the damaged sections. The East-West Pipeline, which runs across Saudi Arabia, is a crucial part of the country's oil export strategy aimed at redirecting oil exports to the Red Sea to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, where attacks by Iran have severely disrupted shipping. This 1,200-kilometer pipeline has a maximum daily throughput of 7 million barrels. According to informed officials, repairs could take three to five weeks, including maintenance on major pumping stations. One official stated that the pipeline may still operate partially during the repair team's work.
