On September 12, the Financial Times reported that the UK crypto industry is entering the implementation phase of regulation. Nick Jones, founder and CEO of Zumo, stated that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will open the application window for crypto asset authorization on September 30, with the new regulatory framework expected to be officially implemented by October 2027. He pointed out that for a long time, regulatory uncertainty and counterparty risk have made financial institutions cautious about the UK crypto market, not due to a lack of interest in digital assets. As the regulatory path becomes clearer, traditional financial institutions such as Hargreaves Lansdown, the largest retail investment platform in the UK, are beginning to enter the crypto market. The industry will gradually move away from offshore operations, startup-style business processes, and unregulated models, with the importance of compliant infrastructure and local service providers further increasing.
