two executives from Nvidia (NVDA.O) have left the company to join a young financial firm that represents the world’s wealthiest families investing in artificial intelligence. Geoffrey Levene, former global head of Nvidia’s AI program, and Max Cohen, director of North American cloud business, have both joined the New York-based investment firm Era. Era is led by 30-year-old investor Jasper Lau and mainly focuses on venture capital while also providing a range of other financial services to clients and portfolio companies. According to insiders, Era is currently raising $250 million in funds, having already secured $140 million in oversubscribed capital. Era has not raised funds from more traditional venture capital sources such as pension funds but instead from a group of wealthy families, some of whom are influential business figures with vested interests in global data center construction. Era also plans to work closely with Nvidia, which has helped the firm identify priority AI markets and investment strategies for its latest fund. According to Era, Jensen Huang previously helped persuade some wealthy families to adopt AI technology in their operations and support infrastructure development, including encouraging them to invest in Era.
