On August 20, OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar informed employees during an all-hands meeting on August 19 that the company "will go public by 2027," and could potentially achieve this even sooner if business continues to accelerate. She emphasized that the IPO is merely a milestone and not the end goal, noting that the company raised $122 billion in funding in March, providing ample flexibility. Previously, OpenAI had confidentially submitted an S-1 filing to the U.S. SEC in June this year. According to a report by the WSJ, the company's revenue reached $6.7 billion in the second quarter of 2026, an 18% quarter-over-quarter increase, but operating losses widened to $12.3 billion, with the company still not profitable.
