Iran: Saudi Arabia Requests Delay of Meeting on Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated at a weekly press conference that Saudi Arabia has requested a 'temporary' postponement of the meeting between Gulf countries and Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia attributed the request to the developments in Yemen, which it claims is a distraction from the root causes of the crisis. The agreement reached between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait is a bilateral agreement between the two coastal nations. Iran hopes that regional countries can 'promote regional security through dialogue and limit the influence of destructive external actors.'
