Inventor of RSA encryption algorithm: The world would be better off without cryptocurrency

Adi Shamir, co-inventor of the RSA encryption algorithm and Turing Award winner, said at the RSA Security Conference in San Francisco that "the world would be better off without cryptocurrencies." He pointed out that although the Bitcoin whitepaper proposed lofty ideals, the current cryptocurrency is highly concentrated in a few large exchanges, mainly used for speculation rather than payment, and has fueled the spread of malicious software.
