Goldman Sachs: Hedge Funds Bought U.S. Stocks at Fastest Pace in Six Months Last Week

According to Goldman Sachs' prime brokerage division, hedge funds purchased U.S. stocks at the fastest pace in six months last week, while the S&P 500 continued its record-breaking upward trend. Goldman traders noted in a client report that the changes in trading volume were driven by bullish purchases of index products and exchange-traded funds, as well as short covering. Short positions in U.S.-listed exchange-traded funds decreased for the second consecutive week, down by 0.6%. The ongoing enthusiasm for investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure, coupled with performance exceeding expectations, has contributed to the sustained rise in the U.S. stock market. The S&P 500 has risen for nine consecutive weeks, marking the longest stretch since 2023. Meanwhile, the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index has gained over 20% this year.
