On October 10, former FTX Chief Operating Officer Constance Wang criticized the upcoming Netflix series 'The Altruists', which is based on the FTX saga, stating that watching the trailer made her 'physically vomit'. She believes that the portrayal of the FTX collapse, founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), and former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison is severely inconsistent with her personal experiences. Wang noted that FTX had fewer than 200 employees at the time, with many working 16 to 18 hours a day and having almost no time for sleep. She also refuted the narrative that the collapse was due to executives partying in the Bahamas, asserting that what she witnessed while working at the company was completely different. Additionally, she pointed out that the trailer's depiction of Ellison is overly aggressive, stating that the real Ellison is quiet and gentle, and that most employees only learned about her relationship with SBF after FTX's bankruptcy. Wang joined FTX as COO in early 2019 and was promoted to co-CEO just months before the company's collapse. She stated that the FTX collapse ruined many lives, while Netflix is turning this tragedy into a love story, calling it 'shameful'. 'The Altruists' consists of 8 episodes and is set to premiere on Netflix on November 19.
