Fed Chair Warsh: No 'Conflict' Between Dual Mandate

On July 30, Fed Chair Warsh told reporters that he does not see a general 'conflict' between the two parts of the central bank's dual mandate—achieving maximum employment and maintaining price stability. 'My judgment is: when we fulfill our responsibilities, we will achieve both goals at the same time,' Warsh said, adding that there is no either-or choice between inflation and employment. 'No part of our mandate is forgotten,' he said, noting that what truly harms the market is inflation that is both high and volatile.
