according to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, Democratic members of the Senate Banking Committee made a late-night call for a full hearing to be held before the bill markup scheduled for Thursday.
Senators Chris Van Hollen, Tina Smith, and Jack Reed sent a letter to the Republican leadership of the Senate Banking Committee, criticizing that the bill text has not been released with only two days left before the markup (expected to be over 200 pages), and stated that such a timeline is insufficient to vote on "the most important bill the committee has considered this century."
Note: All three senators mentioned above have voting records against cryptocurrency, and whether or not a hearing is held, they are expected to vote against it.
Before the Christmas recess, Republican Senator John Kennedy co-signed a letter with Reed expressing hope for a hearing to better understand the related issues. However, he did not sign the latest letter, and it is currently unclear whether he still holds the same view.
