On June 24, shipping tracking data revealed that nearly one-fifth of the commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday were sanctioned ships involved in transporting Iranian oil. According to maritime analytics firm Kpler, among the 48 vessels confirmed to have crossed the strait, nine had previously been sanctioned for participating in the transportation of energy for Iran, Russia, and Venezuela. One of these was the bulk carrier Warta, flying the Iranian flag, which was tracked entering the Persian Gulf. Kpler identified two other vessels, the oil tankers Asha and Lumina Ocean, flying the flags of Curacao, which were navigating along the so-called 'Iran route' on the northern side of the strait. On Monday, another Curacao-flagged tanker, Titan, and a Botswana-flagged tanker, Vigor, also exited the strait.
