On June 30, the privacy L2 Aztec completed the code development for the v5 protocol upgrade and is preparing to enter the governance proposal stage. This upgrade is described as the largest since the Alpha Network launch, covering multiple core areas such as block construction, proof performance, penalty mechanisms, privacy protection, and node APIs, integrating a total of 13 AZIPs. The upgrade deployment process is the same as v4: anyone can deploy the new contract, and after the sequencer issues a support signal, token holders will conduct governance voting, with the upgrade officially taking effect after an execution delay. Node operators can deploy v5 nodes in advance and keep them in standby mode, which will be automatically activated after the upgrade is executed.
