On August 30, CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost stated that during Bitcoin's recent rise to $80,000, short-term holders (STH) saw their average unrealized profits approach 15%. This group currently has an estimated average holding cost of about $70,100, with profit levels reaching the highest since July 2025. Darkfost believes that when profits for short-term holders rise to this level, their holding stability typically decreases, and some investors may choose to take profits. Therefore, it is not surprising that Bitcoin has temporarily stalled around $80,000, as short-term profit-taking could become a pressure point that needs to be absorbed for further price increases.
