WeaveDB, a database solutions provider announced at the just concluded Arweave Day in Asia that it has launched Jots, a decentralised social network.

Ahmad Mardeni, the ceo of WeaveDB said Jots which was built on WeaveDB can be viewed as a product with features of X (formerly Twitter), a Web2 social media platform and Medium, a content publishing platform.

“You can post articles, tweet, follow people and get notifications and do everything you do on Twitter and Medium at the moment,” Mardeni said.

WeaveDB is also looking to make it possible for anyone to create social networks so it is planning to create Jots Network.

“With Jots Network, you will be able to deploy your own jots which is a fully decentralised social network and customize it the way you want. So adding your logo; customizing the colours; adding features without writing a single line of code,” Mardeni said.

Being built on WeavDB removes the burden of having to write codes to deploy Jots. WeaveDB uses its existing storage-based consensus paradigm of Arweave together with Warp SmartWeave contract and Bundlr to create a structure that now supports the Jots Social.

First introduced September 2022, WeaveDB was the first NoSQL DB as a smart contract on Arweave and it had the vision of bringing smooth user experience, complexity and scalability as it is in Web2 to Web3 applications.

For WeaveDB’s users, it removed the persistent problem of having to depend on Web2 infrastructure to build Web3 applications.

It raised a $900,000 pre-seed round early this year led by Permanent Ventures and othe Web3 investors.

Jots Social joins other applications on Arweave exploring the different aspects of Social use case of the network.

The application has been launched in Alpha and the waitlist is open for interested persons to join here.
