Rareweave now has a universal wallet interface, an update that makes it easier to integrate different wallets and chains and brings the project closer to cross-chain interoperability, the non-fungible token application built on Arweave announced on Thursday.

The Universal Wallet Interface is a specification of a set of methods that are common to each wallet. Different wallets including Solflare, a Solana wallet which supports only Solana; Metamask, an Ethereum-centric wallet; Alby which is a Bitcoin Lightning wallet; Arconnect, a Arweave focused wallet can be added to the same API.

Rareweave said users can call sendCoins regardless of the wallet and chain.

“Making integration of foreign coins like Solana or Bitcoin as a payment method much easier (payment method for anything, we use it as payment method for NFTs), CTO and Co-founder of Rareweave Nik Rykov told this writer via Discord

While for some, Universal Wallet Interface may be a bit technical, it could be thought of as a twerk that makes payment on Rareweave easier. For a project to grow, it needs to extend beyond its native chain by integrating and collaborating with other chains and ensure restrictions that users from other chains are often confronted with such as wallet and coin are addressed.

Built and launched by a group of teenagers, Rareweave attracted the attention of many in the Arweav community when it launched in Beta mode in April 2023. The idea to make Rareweave accessible to all regardless of the chain they are operating from is one of the things the team intended to use to make the project different from other existing NFT marketplace. It said in April in a Permaweb News interview that it was looking to integrate with other blockchains including Solana and Bitcoin.

The project’s frontend has been getting some fine tuning since last month. Rareweave said it was using 4Everland as its primary frontend provider.
