Polygon Is Now the Second-largest Blockchain Gaming Network

Validated Individual Expert

After a surge of user activity in March of 2023, Polygon has become the second-largest blockchain gaming network. According to a report from DappRadar, a total of 138,081 unique active wallets (UAWs) became involved in gaming in the Polygon chain. It shows a 53% growth from February, eclipsing Hive and BNB Chain to secure the second spot. WAX chain remains at the top with over 314,000 UAWs.

DappRadar’s report indicates that the Polygon chain continues to grow and be recognized as a gaming blockchain. The surge in user activity on Polygon can be attributed to the popularity of Hunters On-Chain, a game developed by BoomLand. According to DappRadar data, Hunters On-Chain has experienced a staggering increase of over 17,000% in UAWs in the past 30 days alone. The game, which is a Web3 adaptation of BoomLand’s mobile game Hunt Royale, is a free-to-play role-playing game with non-fungible token (NFT) integrations and shares a similar look and style to Minecraft. On March 9, the game reached an all-time high UAW count of approximately 55,300. While the exact reason for the surge in interest is unclear, anticipation for an in-game NFT sale on March 31 may have played a role.

The report also noted that on-chain gaming activity decreased by 3.33% in March, with 741,567 daily Unique Active Wallets (dUAWs), but games still accounted for 45.6% of the DApp industry activity in the first quarter of 2023.

Polygon has been gaining significant momentum in recent months, particularly in the realms of NFTs, gaming, and the metaverse, as the team behind the ever-growing chain has successfully secured partnerships with major players in the industry, such as Warner Music, Starbucks, Adidas, Reddit, and Adobe to develop and host NFT projects.

Most recently, Polygon successfully launched its open-source Ethereum Virtual Machine equivalent zero-knowledge rollup on March 27. This development is expected to enable DApps to scale through transaction batching, resulting in improved performance and reduced gas fees for transactions on the network.

Polygon has emerged as a prominent player in the blockchain gaming space, boasting a substantial user base and an expanding list of partnerships. With its recent zero-knowledge rollup launch and continued efforts to develop its ecosystem, Polygon is well-positioned for further growth and adoption in the NFT, gaming, and metaverse sectors.
