NFT Marketplace Blur's Newly Launched Native Token Suffers Significant Price Drop, Airdrop Delayed

Cointime Official

NFT marketplace @blur_io announced  on Twitter that the $BLUR airdrop will go live 90 minutes later than original estimate.

"Be careful of phishing links in the meantime. We will only post official updates from our Twitter @BLUR_io", Blur added.

On February 14, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. ET, Blur finally allowed users to redeem "care packages" for its long-awaited native token, $BLUR, after the platform had postponed its launch in January. $BLUR is a ERC-20 governance that token has a maximum supply of three billion, with 12 percent of that supply reserved for airdrop holders. The remaining 87 percent of tokens are split between two lock-up contracts, with 78 percent, and a multi-sig wallet managed by the Blur team, with nine percent. The initial CoinMarketCap report estimated $BLUR's fully-diluted market cap at $14 billion, with a single token trading at just under $5.00. However, the latest figures indicate a significant drop to under $2.3 billion for the market cap and $0.64 per token.

$Blur Launch Announcement Full thread:

$BLUR is now LIVE All traders across all marketplaces in the last 3 months, Care Package holders, and Creators are eligible for the airdrop. You have 60 days to claim your BLUR.

Since launching 4 months ago, 146,823 users have traded $1.2 BILLION dollars worth of NFTs on Blur (wash trading excluded).

This growth is breathtaking and was only possible with the support of the Blur community.

Until now, Blur was developed by a team of committed core contributors. This was just the start for Blur — what we consider Blur’s Season 1.

Now, Season 2 begins. Blur is decentralizing with 360M BLUR being distributed to Traders, Care Package holders, and Creators. Claimable immediately.

BLUR gives the community control over the protocol’s value accrual and distribution. The Blur Foundation has been created to help foster community-led growth for the protocol.

As part of this move, @Zeneca has stepped up to become a director of the Blur Foundation. @PacmanBlur will be joining him as well. You can learn more about BLUR and the foundation on the foundation’s official website at http://BLUR.foundation.

  • US Considers Easing Sanctions on Shadow Fleet to Lower Shipping Rates

On October 15, a US official stated on Wednesday that the Trump administration is considering easing sanctions on vessels known as the 'shadow fleet.' These ships have previously transported oil and petroleum products from countries such as Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. This move aims to reduce the currently historically high global shipping rates. Shortly before this, President Trump had temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian diesel, a decision that drew strong criticism from Ukrainian President Zelensky, several European governments, and some Republican senators. The US official revealed that current discussions focus on whether the US will allow previously sanctioned vessels to transport 'legitimate oil.' Here, 'legitimate oil' refers to crude oil or petroleum products not subject to US sanctions, rather than oil from Russia and Iran that is under sanctions. The official stated that this move aims to facilitate the export of more refined products and crude oil from the Gulf region.
