May 5 (Cointime) - Satoshi Action Fund, a cryptocurrency advocacy group, shared on Twitter that the Governor Greg Gianforte of Montana signed the bill SB178 into law on May 2. The SB178 bill mainly prohibits local governments in the state from passing laws that ban cryptocurrency mining.

The bill, which had already passed both the state House and Senate, revises existing laws to protect the rights of crypto miners in Montana. It prohibits discriminatory electrical rates for mining companies and prevents taxation of cryptocurrencies used as a means of payment.
