Explore Large Scale Metaverse — iPollo Chief Scientist Huawei Kong is Invited to deliver a speech at the Grand Final of the 2022 China Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition

Validated Project

On February 22, 2022 China Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition Grand Final has been held in InterContinental Hangzhou. Marvin Kong, iPollo's Chief Scientist and President of Nano Labs Institute of Science and Technology, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech titled "Explore Large Scale Metaverse" on behalf of iPollo Metaverse.

iPollo Metaverse is a metaverse infrastructure that provides 3D real-time rendering computing power, which currently solves four major pain points in the metaverse field: high rendering costs, high transmission costs, high development costs and underutilized computing power. It helps Web3 entrepreneurs to develop and build with low-cost and high efficiency on the iPollo Metaverse platform, comprehensively covering games, education, concert, office and other segments, dedicated to realizing open social and immersive experiences in the 3D metaverse world, and bringing users a new Web3.0 lifestyle.

It is reported that the event brought together more than 2,800 technology projects from key universities, well-known research institutes, leading industry enterprises and other units across the country, focusing on technology fields that may make major disruptive breakthroughs, such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, future networks and communications, and crossover disciplinary. Disruptive technology is the "game-changer" frontier technology, with the transformative effect of changing the evolutionary curve of the technology path and overturning the status quo.

The competition has established a new mechanism of "discovery-selection-cultivation" of disruptive technology. After the preliminary screening and the field sub-competition, 157 high-quality projects with disruptive potential will be promoted to the annual finals, and the winners will be recommended to enter the disruptive technology alternatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

  • US Considers Easing Sanctions on Shadow Fleet to Lower Shipping Rates

On October 15, a US official stated on Wednesday that the Trump administration is considering easing sanctions on vessels known as the 'shadow fleet.' These ships have previously transported oil and petroleum products from countries such as Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. This move aims to reduce the currently historically high global shipping rates. Shortly before this, President Trump had temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian diesel, a decision that drew strong criticism from Ukrainian President Zelensky, several European governments, and some Republican senators. The US official revealed that current discussions focus on whether the US will allow previously sanctioned vessels to transport 'legitimate oil.' Here, 'legitimate oil' refers to crude oil or petroleum products not subject to US sanctions, rather than oil from Russia and Iran that is under sanctions. The official stated that this move aims to facilitate the export of more refined products and crude oil from the Gulf region.
