According to a recent court filing, a United States District Court judge in the Southern District of New York has declared that emojis such as the rocket ship, stock chart, and money bags signify "a financial return on investment."
A federal court judge ruled that these emojis 🚀📈💰objectively mean "one thing: a financial return on investment." Users of these emojis are hereby warned of the legal consequence of their use. #emojis #rocketshipemoji #DapperLabs https://t.co/4yRfWBH96R

The filing includes tweets made by Dapper Labs via its NBA Top Shot account, stating that some of the tweets published by the NBA Top Shot account on Twitter contain emojis that indicate financial returns.
“And although the literal word ‘profit’ is not included in any of the Tweets, the ‘rocket ship’ emoji, ‘stock chart’ emoji, and ‘money bags’ emoji objectively mean one thing: a financial return on investment,” as per the filing.

After the warning was issued, the crypto community responded with a variety of tweets. One Twitter user expressed their disappointment by describing the news as "tragic," while another emphasized that emojis are no longer protected under freedom of speech. Additionally, a user took it upon themselves to clarify the intended meanings behind their use of certain emojis.
