Cointime Interview With Mises Browser, Solve What Web2 Cannot, Mises Play With Web3 Browsers

Cointime Official

Mises is dedicated to building the infrastructure of Web3 with its main products including Mises Chain, Mises ID, Mises Browser, Decentralized Storage, NFT.  Mises Browser is a web3 browser with chrome extensions support on mobile phones.

We are honored to have completed an exclusive interview with Mises.

The highlights are below:

1.Mises Browser as an extension-supported mobile Web3 browser,What is the difference between  web2 browser? What do you think are the obstacles for people to access web3 (the need for a certain threshold of knowledge, more convenient operation or other factors)? Do you think Mises Browser can effectively help resolve these issues?

Mises: To answer this question, I have to give a bit of introduction about Mises Browser. We have four major features, the first and the most important feature is the extensions, users can download the chrome extensions directly on Mises mobile browser and use it. The browser also has a built-in extensio aggregator, which includes more than 200 wallets extensions. The second feature is a built-in Web3 dApp aggregator, which includes nearly 400 mainstream Web3 websites, allowing users to use Web3 services quickly and safely. The third feature is actually very interesting, Mises Browser supports resolution of decentralized domains and IPFS. Normally on other browsers, you need to you need to configure all the gateways, but Mises Browser has done it for you. The last feature is security feature, we have implemented several security mechanisms to protect our users from phishing sites and scammers. DApps, extensions and websites of our partnership will enter the security whitelist. So the biggest difference between web2 and web3 is that we are aiming to better meet the needs of users. My team thinks that the future trend about web industry will be the decentralization of depth itself. This means that information is stored in a distributed manner, which is why we implement resolution of decentralized domains and IPFS, that will be one of the most important parts to differentiate web2 and web3. I think the first obstacle for people to access web3 is that many websites are hard for their users to have a good experience on mobile, and that is why we added those expansion support features on Mises Browser, because only with this feature you can have a good experience. The second obstacle is about security. The biggest difference between web2 and web3 is that users can control over the assets and data. But this also means that users need to be responsible for the security of their asset data themselves. When someone gets your privacy, you may lose all your assets in the very first place, so we have implemented several security mechanisms. Through these features, we think Mises Browser can help users solve these issues.

2. As a mobile web3 browser, why does Mises develop its own blockchain and what features does this chain have?

Mises: As many people are aware, decentralized storage is a key issue for web3, so a decentralized storage solution is a must for web3 browsers. Basically, we are thinking to divide the decentralized storage system into two parts, one part is for personal users and the second part is for corporate users. For personal users, if you want to upload or store your documents on this decentralized storage system, you need to pay very little MIS COIN to meet the basic service. For corporate users, if you want to build a decentralized website, you can purchase decentralized storage service from our storage nodes.

3. The white paper mentions that the revenue of storage nodes comes entirely from user payments and sharing, with no mining rewards. In what way does Mises attract storage nodes to complete the service as opposed to giving them a mining reward? What are the advantages and disadvantages of such an approach compared to mining rewards?

Mises: For personal users, if you want to upload or store your documents on storage nodes, you can get good service by paying money. By providing storage service, storage nodes can receive customers to cover their costs, and this way people can join the system. Mining rewards have obvious disadvantages in a deflationary model, the revenue for nodes is not stable and constant. Our approach will attract those who are really interested, but of course there are certain challenges.

4. Mises Browser has recently launched an anti-phishing function, please tell us more about this function, what measures does Mises Browser take to ensure system security and financial security?

Mises: Whitelist is a method of giving a list of permissions, where users are blocked from accessing any website or Internet resource other than the list. In contrast, a blacklist is a security method that gives a forbidden list, in which a user can access any website or Internet resource other than the forbidden list, but the problem with this method is that the team needs to maintain a huge amount of data. Our solution is that when users connect their expansion to a website, the anti-phishing function will scan the address, layout and element of this website. The advantage of this solution is that it is very fast.

5. What is the role of Mises Discover in the entire Mises system, what is the core attraction of Mises for users.

Mises: Mises Discover will be a decentralized social media and it's integrated into Mises Browser at current stage. In the future, when we develop the decentralized storage system, we will return the power to the community. If you want to upload or store your documents on storage nodes, you will need to pay some MIS COIN, and if someone wants to view your documents or someone wants to buy your content, they will need to pay you as well. It makes the content on social media will be very valuable, because we will not need some money to post garbage, right?

6.Please introduce the operation of Mises Browser, such as the number of partners, user usage, etc.

Mises: Now we have about 500,000 downloads and 40,000 daily active users, and our users are from all over the world. Users are mainly from the following four regions, North America; Europe; Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore; and Nigeria. We have more than 200 partners, and many other companies will be partnered with us in the future.

7.The contents of each App are isolated from each other, and their contents are not allowed to be searched or even accessed by the browser. What do you think are the differences between dApp and App compared? What kind of effect do you think dApp will have in solving the problem of artificially created information isolation, and what should be the focus of dApp's future development?

Mises: A traditional App is developed by a product company. Therefore, the data, access is usually controlled by that copyright holder, the status or content on each App is isolated and you cannot search it. Therefore, Mises Browser wants to help users gain total control over their data and make it possible to solve the isolation problem. We have built browser on an open platform where you can search for the content and you can share data between different dApps. This can provide better personalized services for users. Regarding the future development, I think the most important thing is user experience. In order to attract more users, we must offer better user experience, including the better UI and better performance. Also, because users have total control over their personal data on website, it is necessary to improve the protection of user security and user privacy. And we need to find out more application scenarios.

8.If the essence of Mises is to solve the problem of artificially created information isolation between networks, the implementation of universal Mises ID in the entire Mises system can only be considered as the first step to solve this problem, how will you realize the universality of Mises ID in the whole web3? Even in the existing Internet and offline areas, how can Mises ID achieve a real break down of the divide and realize its uniqueness?

Mises: It's actually a plan for the long term. In the short time, we hope Mises ID to be a bridge between the virtual world and the real world, nd what we are considering is that maybe we can make Mises ID a decentralized Google ID, the difference being that your Google account just holds your personal data on Google's own centralized servers, but Mises ID will help make your personal data encrypted and uploaded to the blockchain. And in the long term, we're looking at building an ecosystem like this. For example, in the future, if you authorize your miss ID to some company, they can recommend you some services or content based on your browsing history. In the long run, this requires a complete ecosystem, and we have been communicating with our partners, hoping to build such an ecosystem together.

9.Many traditional Internet giants have started to lay out web3, for example, Google has formed a web3 team, how do you see such a situation? In case of these Internet giants with their own traffic and deep technical background, how do you think startups in web3 can break through this dilemma? Facing this situation, what is Mises' next strategic plan in developing the market?

Mises: I don't think we should be afraid of the traditional Internet giants, because they cannot be successful in all areas. For example, Google has developed more than 500 products and only few of them were successful. They still need a lot of talent industry to understand the industry before they can compete with us, the cryptocurrency native startups. So I'm actually thinking that we have some advantages over Google. I think what we need to do is to focus on the real needs of our users, the most important thing for a web3 startup or project is to listen to your users, listen to your investors, and solve the real problems. We are looking at more partnerships, we've been doing extensions, we are always expanding our ecosystem.

10.The original intention of establishing Mises is to change the situation of the existing Internet giants' threat to personal data security and personal freedom of expression. Do you believe that complete freedom of speech and information may exist? Do you still see the future of Mises as applying decentralization to the real world? Do you think it is possible to solve the paradox of decentralization of the virtual world and the actual centralization of the real world, which will exist and will continue to exist?

Mises: It is actually very interesting question. There was a case in Australia where someone used a photocopier to make copies of a book and the publisher sued the photocopier company. So, the essence of the problem is a human problem, not any technological problem. Regarding the censorship of speech we propose a jury scheme, if someone reports a speech on social media, the speech will be sent to a jury, the jury is chosen randomly among users, if more than a certain percentage of people (suppose 60%) think the speech is inappropriate, then the speech will be removed and the publisher will be punished. Considering that different countries have different laws and the same content is illegal in some places and not in others, users can choose different storage nodes accordingly when storing content.
