April 14 (Cointime) - According to a CNBC report, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins confirmed in a press conference on Thursday that an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of Cash App founder Bob Lee on April 4.
San Francisco police officers found Lee, 43, with stab wounds in a deserted part of downtown San Francisco early in the morning. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
The suspect is Nima Momeni, a tech entrepreneur in the Bay Area. Authorities said the two men knew each other, but they would not comment on the motive. The investigation is ongoing, and Momeni will be arraigned on Friday.
Police arrested Momeni on Thursday in Emeryville, California, and he was booked on suspicion of murder. Prosecutors plan to file a motion to detain Momeni without bail. News of the arrest was first reported by Mission Local, a local San Francisco news publication.
In the press conference, Jenkins criticized early comments from pundits and celebrities that used the murder to portray San Francisco as a crime-ridden and violent city.
