On May 14, foreign media reported, citing informed sources, that Vitol Energy Group is supplying Basrah crude oil from Iraq to customers, indicating that some shipments may have successfully departed from the Persian Gulf. Sources stated that Vitol has provided supplies to refiners in recent days, including Basrah medium sour crude and Basrah heavy crude, delivered through ship-to-ship transfers in waters near Fujairah (UAE port). If the transaction is completed, it would be a rare case of Iraqi crude oil being publicly offered by traders in the spot market since the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
