On October 26, Soneium, an Ethereum L2 network backed by Sony, announced its transition from a foundational blockchain to an on-chain entertainment economy centered around tokenized IP (Tokenized IP). The network plans to issue its native ecological token $SONEIUM, with details of the token generation event (TGE) to be announced later. Soneium claims to have over 250 existing applications in its ecosystem, covering music, gaming, anime, film, collectibles, and fan creations. Tokenized IP includes three categories: IP Tokens that can be represented as collectibles or fungible tokens, IP Vaults that provide exposure to copyright revenue assets, and IP Token Bonds supported by entertainment company revenues. The first IP Token is the character IP Moriusa from Tokyo Super State Holdings, and there is a collaboration with DayOneDream to put K-pop concert royalties on-chain, involving BTOB, LEE CHAE YEON, MEMI, and 2F. The underlying architecture consists of three layers: IP Registry, IP Graph, and IP Execution Layer, and it supports the ERC-8432 licensing standard. The official platform is Soneium Portal, with user access through the Startale App. Yuji Kumagai, head of the Soneium Protocol, stated that it will help creators finance their subsequent works on a new scale.
