Resignation Post Surpasses 140 Million Views, Is It a PR Stunt for the Democratic Party's AI Panic?

According to Beating AI news, the resignation post by former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon has exceeded 100 million views within just one day and has now reached 140 million. Parker Thayer, an investigator at the conservative research organization Capital Research Center, believes that this viral phenomenon appears less like organic spread and more like a well-prepared, well-funded public relations campaign aimed at amplifying AI extinction panic to bolster the Democratic Party's push for stricter AI regulations. Firstly, the pace of dissemination was too rapid. Eighteen minutes before Coxon’s post, The Wall Street Journal had already published an exclusive report. Within 15 minutes of the post going live, the first three retweeters were from Encode AI, AI Policy Network, and AI Futures Project, all of which are organizations that have long advocated for AI safety and regulation. Secondly, these organizations share a significant financial backer. Public records from SFF show that Jaan Tallinn, co-founder of Skype, has been funding the AI Futures Project, Encode AI, and AI Policy Institute for amounts ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. Tallinn is also an early investor in Anthropic, leading the $124 million Series A funding round in 2021. Thirdly, Coxon himself has connections within this circle. Thayer noted that Coxon received the 'Long-Term Future' scholarship from Good Ventures in 2022. Good Ventures was founded by Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz and his wife, with Moskovitz also being an early investor in Anthropic. Just 27 minutes after Coxon’s post, Max Nadeau, who is responsible for AI safety funding at Coefficient Giving—a charity funded by Moskovitz—joined in the dissemination. Lastly, political momentum quickly followed. Several Democratic politicians subsequently cited Coxon’s warning to call for increased AI regulation, and leftist leader Bernie Sanders had already prepared a bill days earlier to ban superintelligence and pause advanced AI development. Coxon’s sudden fame has conveniently provided the pro-regulation faction with ready political ammunition.

  • BlackRock Fixed Income CIO: High-Quality AI Bonds More Attractive than U.S. Long-Term Treasuries

On October 27, BlackRock's Global Fixed Income Chief Investment Officer Rick Rieder stated in an interview with Bloomberg TV that the scale of debt financing for AI infrastructure expansion is unprecedented, making related high-quality bonds more attractive than U.S. long-term Treasuries. He mentioned that he spent the entire weekend reviewing relevant transactions and is participating directly on a significant scale, focusing on high-quality bonds issued to finance GPUs, data centers, and other infrastructure. Due to the large scale of new corporate bond issuances, the terms are more favorable than before. He noted that while the yield on U.S. 10-year Treasuries has exceeded 5%, Treasuries have 'taken a back seat' and are increasingly viewed as a 'market benchmark' for measuring the stock market rather than a core investment target. Investors can achieve around a 7% yield by purchasing short-duration single-A bonds while avoiding the duration risk of long bonds. He also mentioned that the global scale of high-quality AI-related financing has exceeded $300 billion this year, approximately three times that of the entire previous year. Currently, major data center operators are issuing corporate bonds at an unprecedented scale to raise hundreds of billions of dollars.
  • South Korea's Ruling Party to Gather More Opinions on Cryptocurrency Taxation, Aims for Quick Conclusion

On October 27, South Korea's ruling Democratic Party announced that it will further collect internal opinions on whether to postpone the taxation of virtual assets and will determine its position soon. Spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo stated to reporters after a general meeting of lawmakers that opinions will be gathered before a decision is made. Policy Committee Chairman Kwon Chil-seung conveyed various opinions regarding the taxation during the meeting, including views in favor of postponement. Lawmaker Ahn Doo-jae argued that taxation should be implemented alongside the establishment of the Digital Basic Asset Law, highlighting the differences in opinions at the meeting. Jeon Eun-soo emphasized that no party position was established that day, noting that there are about 60 days left until the tax implementation, and a decision will be made promptly. Since its establishment in 2020, the virtual asset taxation system has been postponed three times; if there is no further delay, it will be imposed starting January next year on annual income generated from the transfer and rental of virtual assets, taxed at a combined rate of 22% after a basic deduction of 2.5 million won.

  • Galaxy: Bitcoin Bear Market Ended in June, Time to Buy and Hold

On October 26, Galaxy Research stated in a report submitted to The Block that the Bitcoin bear market ended in June, and it is currently a time to buy and hold. The report was authored by the company's head of research, Alex Thorn. The analysis is based on three points: Bitcoin has closed above the 50-week moving average for five consecutive weeks as of October 18, after previously operating below that line for 44 weeks; the monthly average movement of Bitcoin in wallets that have not moved for over five years has decreased from 67,000 in 2024 to 47,000 in 2025 and 34,000 in 2026, with approximately 1.11 million BTC from this age group moving since October 2024, mostly absorbed by ETFs and publicly traded companies; and the U.S. federal debt has reached $40.44 trillion. Thorn stated, 'The bottom is in, selling pressure has weakened, the logic for hedging against depreciation has strengthened, and the crowd has left.' In terms of price, Bitcoin traded above $80,000 on Monday, down 0.2% in 24 hours, approximately 36% lower than the record of about $126,000 in October 2025. The report also cautioned that if the weekly close falls below the 50-week moving average of $76,540 and does not recover within a month, this bullish outlook will be challenged.
