On October 7, Injective released a new version of its whitepaper, marking the first comprehensive rewrite since the original was published in December 2018. The first version focused on a front-running resistant trading protocol on Ethereum, while the new version positions Injective as a Layer 1 solution aimed at institutional finance and asset tokenization, covering the complete lifecycle of tokenized assets from issuance, trading, to settlement. The whitepaper introduces a native RWA tokenization mechanism that allows for role-based permissions on minting, sending, receiving, and burning tokens. iAssets provide derivatives that track external assets through stablecoin collateral and oracle pricing, without the need for wrapping or pre-funding. Tokenized assets are traded on a centralized limit order book across the entire chain, with each block utilizing sealed high-frequency batch auctions for uniform price settlement, protecting against front-running and transaction ordering MEV. BFT consensus ensures deterministic finality with a block time of approximately 600 milliseconds. The new version also covers a native EVM and WASM sharing the same state, perpetual contract risk management, and AI-driven finance. Agents can operate tokenized assets through MCP servers, strategy-constrained signatures, and USDC-priced x402 machine payment operations. On-chain protocol revenue will be directed towards regular INJ community buybacks.
