  • Iranian Foreign Minister Reveals 'Two-Day Plan' for US Compliance to Restart Iran-US Negotiations

On November 1, local time, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian stated in a media interview that the Iranian delegation's visit to Qatar is a continuation of ongoing communication with mediators such as Qatar and Pakistan. Currently, the proposal on the table is essentially the same as Iran's previously proposed 'seven-day plan.' Qatar, Pakistan, and other mediators have conducted multiple consultations and discussions on this, suggesting alternatives that are more feasible and operational than Iran's 'seven-day plan.' Amir-Abdollahian mentioned that one of Qatar's suggestions is to shorten the seven-day deadline to five days or even less. At present, Iran agrees to a 'two-day plan,' which entails: on the first day, the United States will take a series of compliance measures. On the second day, the Strait of Hormuz will reopen, and maritime traffic will return to its previous state. Amir-Abdollahian pointed out that all these issues are now on the table, and as long as the US adheres to Iran's two-day plan, it can pave the way for peace and restore normalcy in the Strait of Hormuz. The path for negotiations between Iran and the US will only open after the US fulfills its commitments and the Strait of Hormuz is reopened. It is understood that the conditions Iran has set for US compliance include: establishing new shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, unfreezing Iranian funds, ending regional conflicts including those in Lebanon, lifting maritime blockades, granting exemptions for Iranian oil exports, and rescinding new sanctions imposed by the US after the Islamabad Memorandum.
  • Israel Ready to Join US in Striking Iran, Specific Targets Unclear

On November 2, the Jerusalem Post reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are prepared to participate in US military actions against Iran following the US midterm elections on November 3, should Trump request it. However, the current situation remains shrouded in uncertainty. Trump has previously withdrawn threats to attack Iran at various points this year, including in August and early October, but the possibility of an attack has risen again. This is partly due to attempts by various parties to secure concessions from Iran through other means, and some members of Trump's team are reportedly shifting back towards supporting military action. Over the past week, more than 10 US military transport planes have arrived at the Nevatim Air Force Base and the Ovda Air Force Base in southern Israel, seemingly in preparation for a significant military operation. Additionally, reports indicate that the US is deploying air defense systems and interceptors to Israel and other Arab allies. However, US troop levels in the region are still lower than in previous deployments. This may just be the beginning of the deployment. There are still differences between the US and Israel regarding the specific objectives of such military actions.
