Haseeb Qureshi, managing partner at Dragonfly, stated that the cybersecurity sector is experiencing a wave of attacks similar to the COVID-19 pandemic. He believes that on-chain hacking incidents serve as a 'canary in the coal mine' for cybersecurity, as on-chain is the easiest place for cyberattacks to be monetized. Citing data from DefiLlama Research, he noted a sharp increase in on-chain hacking incidents, but the annualized scale of stolen amounts is roughly equivalent to that of 2025, with losses per incident decreasing. He mentioned that most small protocols have already been compromised, while larger protocols are enhancing their defenses using AI tools. He anticipates that a similar situation will emerge across the broader internet landscape.
