On September 25, AMBCrypto reported that as mining profits shrink, Bitcoin mining companies are reallocating resources towards AI data centers and high-performance computing (HPC) hosting, leading to changes in the industry landscape. According to Hashrate Index data, hash prices are approaching $33 per PH/s, with network computing power exceeding 1000 EH/s and unit profitability continuing to decline. CoinShares estimates that the annualized return on AI computing power leasing is approximately $1.5 million per megawatt, three times that of Bitcoin mining (around $500,000 per megawatt). Core Scientific has paid approximately $42 million to cancel orders for next-generation mining machines, while Keel (formerly Bitfarms) and Cipher have sold part of their BTC reserves to finance AI development. IREN plans to cease mining by December 2026; CoinShares anticipates that 35 EH/s of computing power will exit listed mining companies by the end of the year. In terms of stock prices, Core Scientific (CORZ) is around $16.54, reflecting an approximately 90% year-on-year increase.
