On July 6, according to reports, an investigation at the Baimaohui Computer City in Hangzhou revealed that the price increase of storage chips has fully transmitted from upstream to consumer terminals, with ordinary consumers facing significant price hikes for memory and storage drives. Some distributors mentioned that the prices of memory and solid-state drives have surged sharply, causing some panic, and they are hesitant to stock up too much. Reports indicate that the prices of certain solid-state drives and memory modules have doubled, with the price of a 1TB solid-state drive rising from around 500 yuan to approximately 1000 yuan. Additionally, an 8TB solid-state drive specifically for the PS5 is priced close to 20,000 yuan, which is enough to purchase three PS5 Pro consoles. This price surge, driven by structural capacity constraints due to the demand for AI computing power, is expected to continue until 2027.
