On June 21, according to CNN, following Iran's announcement on Saturday to close the Strait of Hormuz, the naval division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned various vessels to stay away from the waterway. A reporter from Iran's national broadcasting service stated that the IRGC Navy has issued warning messages via radio broadcasts and has directly contacted vessels in the area. The warning indicated that ships attempting to cross the strait could encounter mines or become targets for the Iranian naval forces. The reporter also noted that vessel traffic in the Persian Gulf has 'further decreased' compared to a few hours earlier.
