According to the U.S. Washington Post on the 5th, that U.S. President Trump requested the Kurds to assist the United States in operations in Iran, and stated that support including air cover would be provided. The report cited multiple informed sources saying that during calls this week with Kurdish leaders from Iran and Iraq, Trump stated that he would provide "extensive U.S. air cover" and other support to help "anti-government Iranian Kurds occupy parts of western Iran."
