On June 11, according to Fox News, while in the White House situation room, Trump was asked how the U.S. would respond if Iran did not sign the agreement. Trump stated, "If Iran does not sign the agreement, we will bomb them to smithereens tomorrow night (Eastern Time, June 11). This is the most severely violated ceasefire agreement in world history." U.S. Vice President Pence remarked, "During the negotiation process, the U.S. is engaging with both moderate and extremist factions within Iran." Trump also mentioned that he had direct communication with Iranian officials, but this was denied by Iran.
