The U.S. Department of Defense appointed former DOGE official Gavin Kliger as Chief Data Officer.

On March 7, according to Reuters, the U.S. Department of Defense announced the appointment of computer scientist Gavin Kliger as Chief Data Officer. Kliger previously assisted billionaire Elon Musk last year in promoting U.S. government reform. Gavin Kliger's new role "places him at the core of the department's most ambitious artificial intelligence efforts," primarily responsible for "the daily coordination and execution of the department's AI projects, and working directly with the U.S. advanced AI laboratories to support operational personnel."
