The U.S. OCC is seeking public comment on the regulatory framework for payment-based stablecoins under the GENIUS Act.

the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has issued a proposed rule to set regulatory requirements for "permitted payment stablecoin issuers" within its jurisdiction, as well as for foreign issuers and certain custodial activities; BSA/AML and OFAC sanctions-related provisions will be developed separately by the Treasury Department. The public comment period ends 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.
