The Korea Consumer Agency has initiated mediation for a class-action dispute regarding the distribution of subsidies for Bithumb's API campaign.

on the 6th, the Korea Consumer Agency's Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee announced the decision to initiate a collective dispute mediation process related to the subsidy distribution for Bithumb's API linkage activity.

According to the Consumer Agency, Bithumb launched an event last November: refunding all transaction fees to users who used the API (Application Programming Interface) trading for the first time and providing a 100,000 KRW API linkage subsidy. However, after the initial announcement, the platform added a notice excluding "one-time transactions made solely for the purpose of receiving event benefits" and refused to distribute subsidies to some consumers.

The Consumer Agency discovered this situation through the "Consumer Damage Incident Detection System," which is linked with consumer consultation acceptance, and gathered 77 consumers to apply for collective dispute mediation with the committee in January this year. The committee decided to initiate the mediation process on the 5th.

The committee will issue a collective dispute mediation initiation announcement before the 23rd and begin formulating a mediation plan.
