Taiwan has planned the preliminary architecture and design of CBDC (digital New Taiwan dollar) and successfully completed outsourced questionnaire survey in April. Relevant departments disclosed that the planned CBDC design will include initial non-interest payment, but with interest-bearing function, opening anonymous wallets with mobile phone numbers, and wallet grading. It is also stated that a dual-layer architecture will be adopted for issuance, which is to maintain the operation mode of the traditional currency system's dual-layer architecture and avoid financial disintermediation (the supply of funds bypassing the intermediary system of commercial banks and directly providing funds to the party in need).
