On April 23, FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried told the judge that his law professor parents only offered suggestions for improvements to the court documents he submitted seeking a retrial—while this former cryptocurrency industry giant is now withdrawing that request. Bankman-Fried is appealing the jury's fraud conviction and the 25-year sentence he received from U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan. Meanwhile, he had also requested Kaplan to arrange for a new trial presided over by another judge based on alleged new evidence.
