On March 20, ByteDance announced that it has reached a final agreement to sell Moonton Technology to Savvy Games Group, a subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), for over $6 billion. Moonton Technology is the developer and publisher of the popular MOBA mobile game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) in Southeast Asia, which was acquired by ByteDance in 2021. It is reported that ByteDance has made significant investments in AI, and with an overall profit decline in Q4 2025, the sale of Moonton is seen as a strategic signal of ByteDance's further focus on AI.
