Bloomberg: The US CFTC may relocate to share offices with the SEC, but the two agencies will not merge.

On March 7, according to people familiar with the matter, the two top Wall Street regulatory agencies, the CFTC and the SEC, are discussing plans to move into the same building complex in Washington, just steps away from the U.S. Capitol. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulate different markets, and according to these sources, the plan will not merge the two, but they are discussing moving the CFTC into the same building complex currently occupied by the SEC, which is located near Union Station. This relocation plan has been under discussion since last year, and according to these sources, it may not be implemented until as early as 2027. The General Services Administration, the agency responsible for overseeing federal real estate, is also involved in these discussions.
