Jake Chervinsky, Chief Legal Officer of Variant Fund, stated that despite the recent emergence of enterprise-controlled L1 networks, decentralized public chains remain the regulatory standard for product development. Chervinsky pointed out on social media platform X that from a regulatory perspective, many new L1s built by companies for specific product reasons are "unnecessary" and "unhelpful". He emphasized that currently no U.S. regulatory agency requires permissioned validator sets or built-in compliance tools, and Congress has not seriously considered such legislation.
