On April 15, U.S. media reported that the U.S. Special Operations Command has awarded a $50 million contract to aviation technology company Beacon AI as part of efforts to enhance military pilots' access to artificial intelligence capabilities. This four-year contract will integrate Beacon AI's technology, which extracts vast amounts of aircraft data, including weather, flight paths, and pilot operations, and processes it through AI-enabled software to assist pilots in making quicker decisions during flights. Matt Cox, CEO of Beacon AI, stated that the technology is designed to reduce workload and complexity by collaborating with special operations pilots who operate in extremely challenging environments, thereby improving safety by minimizing errors commonly made by pilots during flights under overload, fatigue, or complex conditions.
